Peroxiredoxin (Prx)는 세포 증식, 분화, 세포사멸과 관련된 퍼옥시다아제 계열 단백질입니다.
이 단백질군은 활성 부위 시스테인 잔기를 가지며, 티올 특이적 항산화 활성을 나타냅니다.
포유류 Prx는 총 6가지 이소형으로 구성되어 있으며, 2-Cys 및 1-Cys Prx로 구분됩니다.
Prx I, II, VI는 세포질에, Prx III는 미토콘드리아에, Prx IV는 소포체 및 분비계에, Prx V는 퍼옥시좀, 미토콘드리아, 세포질 등 다양한 위치에 분포합니다.
