Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It acts as a metalloprotease that catalyzes removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, modulating bioactive peptide activity. CD13 participates in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction. It plays roles in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact, cell motility, and vascularization. CD13 expression is associated with granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, contributing to protection against apoptosis and poor prognosis in carcinomas. It also functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
