This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Target Information

Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, causing over 30,000 deaths annually in the USA. In early 2009, a novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus emerged in Mexico and the United States, spreading globally and declared a pandemic by WHO on June 11, 2009.

Influenza A virus expresses one of 16 Hemagglutinin (HA) and one of 9 Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins.

• HA: Facilitates viral attachment
• NA: Involved in viral release

These proteins elicit immune responses that prevent infection or reduce viral replication. The 2009 swine-origin H1N1 strain combines human, swine, and avian influenza genes with additional Eurasian pig H3N2 virus genes of human origin. Its distinct antigenic properties suggest limited human immunity, though some protection exists in older populations.
