Product Specific Information

This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. The expression systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Advantages of recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies:

  • Better specificity and sensitivity
  • Lot-to-lot consistency
  • Animal origin-free formulation
  • Broader immunoreactivity to diverse targets due to larger rabbit immune repertoire

Specificity:
This antibody has specificity for

  • H1N1 (A/California/04/2009) HA
  • H1N1 (A/California/07/2009) HA
  • H1N1 (A/California/04/2009) HA1 Sub-unit

Target Information

Influenza A virus is a major public health threat, causing over 30,000 deaths annually in the USA. In early 2009, a novel swine-origin influenza A (H1N1) virus was identified in Mexico and the United States and rapidly spread worldwide, leading to a pandemic declaration by WHO on June 11, 2009.

Influenza A virus carries one of sixteen possible Hemagglutinin (HA) and one of nine Neuraminidase (NA) surface proteins. HA facilitates viral attachment, while NA is involved in viral release. These proteins elicit immune responses that can prevent infection or reduce viral replication.

The 2009 swine-origin H1N1 strain combines genetic elements from human, swine, and avian influenza viruses, with additional H3N2 genes from Eurasian pigs. Its distinct antigenic properties compared with seasonal H1N1 suggest limited human immunity, though some protection may exist in older populations.
