Target Information
Tubulin family members are globular proteins involved in the assembly of microtubules—key structures in mitosis, cytokinesis, and vesicle transport.
TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24/p25, is a 219 amino acid protein localized in the perinuclear cytoplasm.
It promotes tubulin polymerization into double-walled tubules and stabilizes microtubule structures.
Overexpression of TPPP interferes with mitotic spindle formation and nuclear envelope breakdown.
TPPP is phosphorylated by TPK II and encoded on human chromosome 5, which comprises nearly 6% of the human genome.
TPPP may play roles in microtubule bundling, stabilization, and maintaining microtubule network integrity.
