Target Information
Alpha2-HS glycoprotein (AHSG), also known as fetuin, is a serum glycoprotein synthesized by hepatocytes. The AHSG molecule consists of two polypeptide chains cleaved from a single proprotein encoded by one mRNA. It is involved in several biological functions, including endocytosis, brain development, and bone tissue formation. AHSG is commonly found in the cortical plate of the immature cerebral cortex and bone marrow hematopoietic matrix, suggesting a role in tissue development. However, its precise biological significance remains unclear.
