Target Information
Heterotrimeric guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved in signal transduction.
The GNB3 gene is associated with essential hypertension and obesity.
A polymorphism in this gene is linked to the splice variant GNB3-s, which exhibits increased activity.
GNB3-s represents alternative splicing caused by a nucleotide change outside canonical splice sites.
Additional splice variants may exist but have not been fully characterized.
