Target Information

The hnRNP M gene encodes a member of the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs), which are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA). These proteins influence pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While primarily nuclear, some hnRNPs shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP M contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind RNA and also acts as a monomer of the N-acetylglucosamine-specific receptor involved in recycling immature GlcNAc-bearing thyroglobulin molecules. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants.
