Target Information
Recognizes a protein of approximately 480 kDa, identified as FAT2. Cadherins are Ca²⁺-dependent adhesion molecules essential for cell-to-cell binding, structural maintenance, and morphogenesis. Each cadherin contains multiple extracellular repeats, with the distal repeat determining binding specificity. The intracellular domain interacts with cytoplasmic proteins such as β-catenin to regulate cadherin function.
The cadherin superfamily includes cadherins, protocadherins, desmogleins, and desmocollins. FAT2 (FAT tumor suppressor homolog 2) is a single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the protocadherin subfamily. It contains one Laminin G-like domain, two EGF-like domains, and 32 cadherin domains. FAT2 functions as a cell adhesion molecule, regulating cell proliferation and playing a key role in cerebellum development.
