Target Information
Recognizes a protein of approximately 480 kDa identified as FAT2. Cadherins are Ca²⁺-dependent adhesion molecules essential for cell-to-cell binding, structural maintenance, and morphogenesis. Each cadherin contains a large extracellular domain with homologous repeats responsible for binding specificity, and a short intracellular domain that interacts with cytoplasmic proteins such as β-catenin to regulate function.
The cadherin superfamily includes cadherins, protocadherins, desmogleins, and desmocollins. FAT2 (FAT tumor suppressor homolog 2) is a single-pass type I membrane protein belonging to the protocadherin subfamily. It contains one Laminin G-like domain, two EGF-like domains, and 32 cadherin domains. FAT2 is believed to function as a cell adhesion molecule, regulating cell proliferation and playing an important role in cerebellum development.
