Target Information
NEK2 is involved in cell cycle regulation and is essential for faithful chromosome segregation.
It encodes a serine/threonine-protein kinase primarily located in the centrosome.
NEK2 levels increase throughout the S phase and peak in late G2 phase.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encode different isoforms with distinct C-termini.
NEK2 is associated with diseases such as Retinitis Pigmentosa 67 and Retinitis Pigmentosa.
