Target Information
Guanylyl cyclases catalyze the production of cGMP from GTP and are classified into soluble and membrane forms. The membrane guanylyl cyclases (A–F) are cell-surface receptors with similar structures: extracellular ligand-binding domain, single transmembrane domain, and intracellular kinase-like plus cyclase catalytic domains.
GC-A and GC-B serve as receptors for natriuretic peptides (atrial and type B). NPR1 is a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase acting as the receptor for both atrial and brain natriuretic peptides (BNP).
