Target Information
BUBR1 (BUB1B) is a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and a key component of the mitotic checkpoint that delays anaphase until all chromosomes are properly attached to the mitotic spindle. Dysfunction in this checkpoint can lead to genetic instability and malignant transformation. Human cells contain two related checkpoint kinases, hBUBR1 and hBUB1, both monitoring kinetochore-microtubule interactions during mitosis. BUBR1 is essential for normal mitotic progression and has been detected in various human cancers. It interacts with BCSG1 (Breast Cancer-Specific Gene 1), potentially promoting breast cancer progression by compromising checkpoint control.
