Stock solutions can be prepared at 50–100 µg/mL in appropriate sterile buffer. Carrier proteins such as 0.2–1% BSA or HSA can be added when preparing the stock solution.

Target Information

IL-33 (Interleukin-33) is a 270 amino acid protein of the IL-1 family with an IL-1-like C-terminal domain. It functions both as a proinflammatory cytokine and an intracellular nuclear factor with transcriptional regulatory properties.
IL-33 binds to IL1RL1/ST2, recruiting MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, activating NF-kappaB and MAP kinases, and inducing TH2-associated cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13).
It is expressed in high endothelial venules of tonsils, Peyer’s patches, and mesenteric lymph nodes, but is nearly undetectable in placenta.
Prolonged IL-33 treatment in mice leads to eosinophilia, splenomegaly, and mucosal organ pathology.
Despite its predicted molecular weight, IL-33 often migrates at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
IL-33 can co-localize with heterochromatin and act as a transcriptional repressor, showing dual roles as both cytokine and nuclear factor.
