PLXNA3는 SEMA3A 및 SEMA3F의 코리셉터로 작용하며, class 3 semaphorin 신호 전달과 세포골격 재구성에 필수적입니다. 신경계 발달 중 축삭 유도 및 교감신경세포 이동 조절에 관여하며, 피라미드 뉴런의 수상돌기 가시 형태 유지에 필요합니다. 또한 semaphorin 매개 세포사 조절에도 역할을 할 수 있습니다. Class 3 semaphorin은 neuropilin과 plexin 복합체에 결합하며, plexin의 세포질 도메인은 하위 신호전달 활성화에 필요합니다.
