HIV-1 viral infectivity factor (Vif)는 비허용 세포(림프구, 대식세포 등)에서 바이러스 복제를 효율적으로 수행하기 위한 중요한 단백질입니다. Vif는 약 23 kDa의 인산화 단백질로, 항바이러스 단백질 APOBEC3G를 표적화하여 유비퀴틴화 및 분해를 유도함으로써 바이러스 DNA의 돌연변이 유발을 차단하고 복제를 촉진합니다. 또한, Vif는 세포의 유비퀴틴-프로테아좀 기전에 관여하여 APOBEC3G의 분해를 돕고, STING 신호 경로를 억제하여 type I interferon 생성을 감소시킴으로써 면역 회피에 기여합니다.
