This antibody detects endogenous levels of PKC theta only when phosphorylated at Serine 676.
Target Information
Protein Kinase C (PKC) isoforms are serine/threonine kinases involved in signal transduction pathways that regulate various physiological processes such as differentiation, proliferation, gene expression, brain function, membrane transport, and cytoskeletal organization. PKC plays a key role in cell cycle transitions (G1 and G2 checkpoints), with effects depending on activation timing and isozyme type.
At least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified in humans (α, βI, βII, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ, ι, λ, μ), differing in structure, localization, tissue distribution, and response to signals. PKC βII is expressed in cardiac muscle, intestinal epithelium, kidney, and pancreas, and is involved in cell cycle progression and cancer proliferation.
