Target Information
TIP60 is a transcription factor originally isolated as an HIV-1 TAT-interactive protein. It interacts with the viral TAT protein, leading to HTATIP polyubiquitination and degradation.
It belongs to the MYST family of histone acetyltransferases (HATs) and acts as a catalytic subunit of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex. This complex is involved in transcriptional activation of select genes through acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A.
TIP60 functions as a transcriptional co-regulator, influencing tumorigenesis, DNA repair, apoptosis, and signal transduction pathways.
