Target Information
The EWSR1 gene encodes a multifunctional protein involved in gene expression, cell signaling, and RNA processing and transport. It includes an N-terminal transcriptional activation domain and a C-terminal RNA-binding domain. Chromosomal translocations between EWSR1 and transcription factor genes produce chimeric proteins implicated in tumorigenesis, including Ewing sarcoma and neuroectodermal tumors. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, and related pseudogenes are found on chromosomes 1 and 14.
