Target Information
Phospholipid scramblase 1 (PLSCR1) is a calcium-dependent plasma membrane protein that facilitates transbilayer movement of phosphatidylserine and other phospholipids upon cytosolic calcium influx. This process remodels the plasma membrane and exposes phosphatidylserine on the surface of injured or apoptotic cells, leading to cell death.
PLSCR1 expression is induced by interferons and cytokines, suggesting roles in cytokine signaling pathways. EGF stimulation causes tyrosine phosphorylation of PLSCR1 on residues 69 and 74, enabling interaction with Shc and linking Src kinase activation to EGF receptor signaling.
