Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine belonging to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. It acts as a ligand for TNFRSF27/CD27 and is expressed on activated, but not resting, T and B lymphocytes. CD70 induces proliferation of costimulated T cells, enhances cytolytic T cell generation, and contributes to T cell activation. It also plays a role in B-cell activation, NK cell cytotoxic function, and immunoglobulin synthesis.
