Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase involved in preventing replication when DNA integrity is compromised. It acts as a key mediator in the DNA damage-induced checkpoint network and ensures genomic integrity under genotoxic stress. Inhibition of CHK1 disrupts the G2/S checkpoint, leading to mitotic catastrophe and apoptosis in p53-deficient cancer cells, while normal cells remain arrested in G1. Therefore, CHK1 is considered an attractive therapeutic target for cancer treatment, especially in p53-deficient tumors.
