Target Information
TBC1D23 is a putative Rab GTPase-activating protein involved in vesicular trafficking, particularly endosome-to-Golgi transport. It acts as a bridging protein by binding simultaneously to golgins (GOLGA1, GOLGA4) and the WASH complex, facilitating vesicle capture mediated by AP-1. TBC1D23 plays a role in brain development, including cortical neuron positioning and neurite outgrowth, likely through its involvement in membrane trafficking and cargo delivery. It may also act as a general inhibitor of innate immunity signaling, suppressing multiple TLR and dectin/CLEC7A pathways by modulating inflammatory gene expression after LPS challenge.
