This antibody has specificity for Human Cytochrome C.
Target Information
Cytochrome C is an electron-transporting protein located in the intermembrane space of mitochondria, playing a key role in oxidative phosphorylation and ATP production. Release of cytochrome C into the cytosol is triggered by apoptotic stimuli, where it binds apoptotic protease activating factor to activate procaspase 9. Cytosolic cytochrome C also activates caspase 3, an essential effector in apoptosis.
