This gene encodes a nuclear protein involved in cell-cycle regulation. The encoded protein acts as a ubiquitin-ligase capable of ubiquinating PCNP (PEST-containing nuclear protein), potentially playing a role in tumorigenesis. It contains several domains (NIRF_N, PHD finger, SRA, RING finger) essential for cell proliferation regulation and may contribute to intranuclear degradation of polyglutamine aggregates.
