The encoded protein acts as a ubiquitin-ligase capable of ubiquinating PCNP (PEST-containing nuclear protein), potentially playing a role in tumorigenesis. It contains several domains (NIRF_N, PHD finger, SRA, RING finger) essential for cell proliferation regulation and may contribute to intranuclear degradation of polyglutamine aggregates.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, some of which are non-protein coding.
