DRP1(DNM1L)은 인간의 dynamin 관련 단백질로, 포유류 세포의 미토콘드리아 분열에 관여합니다. 정상 상태 및 세포사멸(apoptosis) 동안 미토콘드리아의 분열에 중요한 역할을 하며, 세포 내 미토콘드리아의 적절한 분포를 위해 필요합니다. 돌연변이 신경세포에서는 시냅스에서 미토콘드리아가 거의 결여되어 있으며, 이를 통해 시냅스에서 미토콘드리아의 역할을 연구할 수 있습니다.
