Target Information
MELK is a serine/threonine kinase related to the AMPK family, involved in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis. It is overexpressed in various cancers and is considered a potential therapeutic target. MELK phosphorylates substrates such as BCL2L14, CDC25B, MAP3K5/ASK1, and ZNF622, contributing to cell proliferation, carcinogenesis, and regulation of mitosis. It also plays roles in neural progenitor proliferation and hematopoiesis.
