This antibody is expected to recognize all reported isoforms of mAPP (NP_001185752.1; NP_031497.2; NP_001185753.1; NP_001185754.1; NP_001185755.1) and all lengths of the putative mouse Amyloid beta peptide.
Tested in Peptide ELISA: antibody detection limit dilution 1:64,000.

Target Information

Amyloid beta peptide (Abeta/Beta-amyloid) is the major constituent of amyloid plaques in the brains of individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease. Abeta peptide is 40–43 amino acids long and generated from the beta-amyloid precursor protein (beta APP) in a two-step process:

1. Cleavage of the extracellular, amino-terminal domain of beta APP by beta-secretase (BACE).
2. Further processing by gamma-secretase, producing the amyloid beta peptide.

Gamma-secretase is a multi-subunit complex containing presenilin-1 and -2 as central components. Nicastrin, a transmembrane glycoprotein, associates with presenilins and modulates amyloid beta peptide production.

Abeta is an extracellular filamentous protein found in amyloid cores, neuritic plaques, and neurofibrillary tangles.
Beta amyloid deposits are detected in:

• Alzheimer’s disease (senile dementia)
• Lewy body dementia
• Down’s syndrome
• Amyloidosis (Dutch type)
• Cerebroarterial amyloidosis (cerebral amyloid angiopathy)
• Guam Parkinson-Dementia complex
