Target Information
The inhibin beta B subunit joins the alpha subunit to form a pituitary FSH secretion inhibitor. Inhibin negatively regulates gonadal stromal cell proliferation and exhibits tumor-suppressor activity. Serum inhibin levels correlate with granulosa-cell tumor size, serving as a marker for primary and recurrent disease. Expression varies across tissues, suggesting roles as both a growth/differentiation factor and a hormone. The beta B subunit also forms activin B (homodimer) and activin AB (heterodimer), both stimulating FSH secretion.
