Target Information
Polycystin 1 is involved in renal tubulogenesis and fluid-flow mechanosensation by the primary cilium in renal epithelium. It acts as a regulator of cilium length together with PKD2, contributing to mechanotransductive signaling regulation. The cilium length response forms a negative feedback loop controlling intracellular cAMP levels and flow-induced signaling. It may also function as an ion-channel regulator and participate in adhesive protein-protein and protein-carbohydrate interactions.
