Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the kinesin 4 subfamily of kinesin-related proteins, also known as chromokinesins. The encoded protein is an ATP-dependent microtubule-based motor protein involved in intracellular transport of membranous organelles. It associates with condensed chromosome arms and may maintain chromosome integrity during mitosis. Additionally, it may participate in central spindle organization prior to cytokinesis. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome X.
