Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
AKT Antibody reacts with AKT from human tissues. Based on sequence, this antibody is expected to react with rat, mouse, and chicken AKT as well.
Target Information
AKT, also known as protein kinase B (PKB) or RAS-alpha, is a serine/threonine kinase involved in regulation of metabolism, cell survival, and growth by phosphorylating multiple substrates. It is activated by insulin, PI3K, IGF1, and other growth factors. AKT promotes cell survival by inhibiting apoptosis through phosphorylation and inactivation of targets such as forkhead transcription factors and caspase-9. The AKT pathway is a major target in cancer drug discovery.
