Target Information

This gene encodes a member of the HOMER family of postsynaptic density scaffolding proteins. These proteins share a domain structure with an N-terminal Enabled/VASP homology 1 (EVH1) domain mediating protein-protein interactions, and a C-terminal coiled-coil domain with two leucine zipper motifs involved in self-oligomerization.
The encoded protein binds group I metabotropic glutamate receptors, inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors, and amyloid precursor proteins. It is implicated in neuronal signaling, T-cell activation, and amyloid beta peptide trafficking.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
