Target Information
This gene encodes a voltage-gated delayed potassium channel related to the Drosophila Shaker channel. The protein has six transmembrane segments, with the S5–S6 loop forming the pore and selectivity filter. The channel functions as a homotetramer. The N-terminus associates with beta subunits affecting inactivation and expression, while the C-terminus interacts with PDZ domain proteins for channel targeting. Mutations in this gene are linked to myokymia with periodic ataxia.
