Target Information
The CCL14 gene is one of several CC cytokine genes clustered on chromosome 17q11.2.
CC cytokines are secreted proteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines.
This cytokine induces changes in intracellular calcium concentration and enzyme release in monocytes.
The gene expresses both monocistronic and bicistronic transcripts, the latter including the upstream cytokine gene CCL15.
CCL14 undergoes alternative splicing in bicistronic transcripts; it is unknown if its monocistronic transcript is also alternatively spliced.
