Target Information

CDH17 gene encodes a member of the cadherin superfamily, which includes calcium-dependent, membrane-associated glycoproteins. The protein consists of an extracellular region with seven cadherin domains and a transmembrane region but lacks the conserved cytoplasmic domain. CDH17 is expressed in the gastrointestinal tract and pancreatic ducts, functioning as an intestinal proton-dependent peptide transporter involved in the absorption of peptide-based drugs. It may also play a role in the morphological organization of the liver and intestine. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
