This gene encodes a polytransferase that lacks an N-terminal DNA-binding domain, which activates the C-terminal catalytic domain of polytransferase. The basic residues within the N-terminal region may have DNA-binding properties and contribute to nuclear or nucleolar targeting. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
