Target Information

Staufen homolog 2 (STAU2) is a member of the double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-binding protein family involved in the transport and localization of mRNAs to various subcellular compartments or organelles. These proteins contain multiple dsRNA-binding domains required for binding RNAs with double-stranded secondary structures. STAU2 shares approximately 48.5% similarity with Drosophila staufen and 59.9% with human staufen. Although its exact function remains unclear, the presence of three conserved dsRNA-binding domains suggests a role in double-stranded RNA binding events. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
