Target Information

PRKG1 is a cGMP-dependent serine/threonine kinase involved in vascular smooth muscle relaxation and platelet aggregation inhibition. It plays a key role in cardiovascular and neuronal regulation, smooth muscle tone modulation, and cell growth.
This gene is highly expressed in smooth muscle, platelets, cerebellar Purkinje cells, hippocampal neurons, and the lateral amygdala.
Isoforms Iα and Iβ share cGMP-binding and catalytic domains but differ in leucine/isoleucine zipper and autoinhibitory regions, resulting in distinct dimerization substrates and kinase activities.
