Target Information
PRKG1 (cGMP-dependent serine/threonine kinase) plays a key role in vascular smooth muscle relaxation and inhibition of platelet aggregation. It is central to cardiovascular and neuronal regulation, smooth muscle tone relaxation, and modulation of cell growth.
Highly expressed in smooth muscle, platelets, cerebellar Purkinje cells, hippocampal neurons, and the lateral amygdala.
Isoforms Iα and Iβ share identical cGMP-binding and catalytic domains but differ in their leucine/isoleucine zipper and autoinhibitory sequences, leading to distinct dimerization and kinase activity profiles.
