Cardiac Troponin T는 횡문근의 얇은 필라멘트에 위치한 트로포닌 복합체의 트로포미오신 결합 소단위로, 세포 내 칼슘 농도 변화에 따라 근수축을 조절합니다. 심근 기능 및 근원섬유 형성에 중요한 역할을 하며, 인간 심장에서 발달 단계에 따라 네 가지 cTnT 아이소폼이 발현됩니다. 심부전 시 Cardiac Troponin T의 발현이 변화하며, 단백질 내 돌연변이는 가족성 비대성 심근병증 및 확장성 심근병증과 관련이 있습니다. 또한, 이 유전자는 여러 조직 특이적 아이소폼을 생성하는 대체 스플라이싱을 겪습니다.
