This antibody detects endogenous levels of total alpha Actinin 2 and alpha Actinin 3 proteins.
Target Information
Alpha actinins belong to the spectrin gene superfamily, a group of cytoskeletal proteins including alpha/beta spectrins and dystrophins. Alpha actinin is an actin-binding protein with multiple roles:
- In nonmuscle cells: Found along microfilament bundles and adherens-type junctions, linking actin to the membrane.
- In muscle cells: Localized to the Z-disc and dense bodies, anchoring myofibrillar actin filaments.
This gene encodes a muscle-specific alpha actinin isoform expressed in both skeletal and cardiac muscles.
