Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated in response to various extracellular stimuli such as cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses. ASK1 activates MKK4 and MKK6, which subsequently activate JNK and p38 MAP kinases. ASK1 is involved in TNFR and Fas signaling through TRAF family interactions and Daxx. Overexpression induces apoptosis, while inactive forms inhibit TNF-α–induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
