Target Information
EPC1 is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, involved in transcriptional activation of select genes through acetylation of nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A. This modification alters nucleosome-DNA interactions and promotes interaction with proteins that regulate transcription. The complex is associated with oncogene-mediated growth induction, tumor suppressor-mediated growth arrest, replicative senescence, apoptosis, and DNA repair. NuA4 may also directly participate in DNA repair at damage sites.
