Target Information
Members of the TNF superfamily regulate immune responses and induce apoptosis. Two novel members, BAFF (BLyS/TALL-1/THANK/zTNF4) and APRIL (TALL-2), have been identified.
- BAFF: Acts as a B cell activator, inducing proliferation and immunoglobulin secretion.
- APRIL: Regulates both immunological and non-immunological cell growth.
- Receptors: BCMA, TACI, and BAFF-R bind to BAFF and APRIL.
- TACI function: Regulates humoral immune responses, activates NF-kappa-B and c-jun N-terminal kinase, and is involved in B cell–associated autoimmune diseases.
