This antibody detects endogenous levels of total TAPBP.
Target Information
The TAPBP gene encodes a transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates the interaction between newly assembled MHC class I molecules and the transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP). This interaction is essential for optimal peptide loading on MHC class I molecules. Up to four complexes of MHC class I and TAPBP may bind to a single TAP molecule. The protein contains a C-terminal double-lysine motif (KKKAE) that retains membrane proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum. The gene is located within the major histocompatibility complex on chromosome 6, and alternative splicing results in three transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
