Target Information
The DOK7 protein is essential for neuromuscular synaptogenesis. It functions in aneural activation of muscle-specific receptor kinase (MuSK), which is required for postsynaptic differentiation and clustering of the acetylcholine receptor in myotubes. DOK7 can induce autophosphorylation of MuSK. Mutations in DOK7 are associated with familial limb-girdle myasthenia (congenital myasthenic syndrome type 1B). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
