Target Information
West Nile Virus (WNV)는 Flaviviridae 계열의 양가닥 RNA 바이러스로, St. Louis encephalitis virus, Yellow fever virus, Dengue virus와 같은 바이러스를 포함합니다. 1937년 우간다 West Nile 지역에서 처음 분리되었으며, 아프리카, 아시아, 유럽 전역에서 발견되고 있습니다. 미국 전역으로 빠르게 확산되어 대부분의 주에서 감염 사례가 보고되었습니다.
바이러스 입자는 RNA 게놈을 둘러싼 코어/캡시드 단백질로 구성된 밀집된 코어와, 세포 침투에 중요한 역할을 하는 envelope 및 matrix 단백질이 포함된 막 구조로 이루어져 있습니다. 코어 단백질은 caspase-9 경로를 통한 apoptosis 유도에 의해 WNV 관련 염증에 기여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
