Target Information
Heterogeneous nuclear RNAs (hnRNAs), including mRNA precursors and mature mRNAs, form complexes with specific proteins known as heterogeneous ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). hnRNP-L is one of the proteins stably associated with hnRNP complexes and plays a major role in mRNA formation, packaging, processing, and function. It is mainly located in the nucleoplasm as part of the hnRNP complex but can also be found outside the nucleus. hnRNP proteins shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm, suggesting possible cytoplasmic functions. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
