Target Information
PDE2A (phosphodiesterase 2A) is a 100 kDa cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE). Three isoforms (PDE2A1, PDE2A2, PDE2A3) arise from a single gene via alternative splicing. PDE2A degrades both cAMP and cGMP, with higher efficacy for cGMP. It is expressed in various tissues, with highest levels in the brain, particularly in the cerebellum and neocortex. PDE2A has been implicated in penile erectile dysfunction and regulation of endothelial fluid and inflammatory cell transport.
